Great tips. I had never thought of saving money by going to the wholesalers with a couple of my neighbours.

I always buy in bulk at the supermarket when there are special offers on, but only on non perishable goods.

Another thing I always do to save food waste; If you notice that some of your vegetables are almost past it, make a hearty soup or salsa dip and freeze it or eat it straight away.

nice tips, but i heard that we buy more at the supermarket when we make a list because in this way we are spending more time and the store. so i guess that for some people the best way is to shop fast and not to "travel" too much at the supermarkets

I always look at the store ads and then decide what we are having for dinners for the week. This makes it not only cheaper, but I buy less when I'm there.

I think you can buy as much as you want when you go as long as it won't spoil, so get those deals.

I never make lists, and this is something I am going to have to start doing. The problem is that I can never quite remember what I do have in the cupboards so I end up buyinhg more than I need.

Thanks for all the valuable informations.

Here are some of my household tips to minimize food waste.

    1. Don't throw soft fruits. You can use it in making jam or marmalade.

    2. Don't throw leftovers. Feed it to your pets at home.

    3. Don't buy lots of fruits and vegetables because it will not last long in the fridge.

    4. Make sure your fridge is working well.

    5. Serve small amount of food on your table just enough for family members. Leftover can put in the fridge.

"don't throw out soft fruits", what if the fruits are rotten?

yes, i agree it's good not to buy lots of fruits because they can be uneatable anytime.

We are pretty good at planning our meals and buying only what is needed, in the amount that will be used or will keep for a week, until the next grocery trip. I keep the fridge up-to-date, so to speak, too. I know people who stuff it full and let things rot... And then of course complain about not having enough money.
