Hi I'm terramir or r. Daniel,
to introduce myself
one of my projects
well I see on the side of the road a few months ago one of those big sony rear projection tv's And well the casing is mostly made out of Plastic. and while california is good at electronics recycling, the casings will end up mostly at the landfill. So I figured I could build something out of it. Low and behold my sis, wants an artful new computer (cheap so she get's my old processor and motherboard) but she wanted a pretty case, so no big deal I say I will build her one. And I still had the material in the closet, I still have leftovers that are going to be another case
.
Anyway these are the raw materials I started with
and this is what it looked like in the end
besides this for the case I only used some screws, the fan filter made of aluminum and some contact cement and epoxy.
As of yet I have not found a stable environmentally sound replacement for epoxy and contact cement but I'm open to suggestions.
Some hints,
#1 Cutting plastic can be a toxic proposition if you use power tools at too high a speed, so when ever possible use low speeds or hand tools, and slowly a hand saw can heat up as well.
#2 whenever possible use screws to make the joints it cuts down on the use of epoxy which is better for you and Mother earth.
#3 Plan ahead, and remember sometimes you'll just have to make things work
So if you like my recycling project please vote for me since I entered into a case mod competition with it here's the link for those of you that will support me , I plan on building other projects out of recycled materials and I could always use the encouragement.
coolermaster case mod competition
Thanks folks in advance and please vote for me

PS: this is not my only project I used to have a solar panel on the roof of my apartment building, however it was a self built one (cells from eBay and it sustained some water damage), maybe later this year I will have it working again. I live on the second floor of a 3 story building so it is some work![]()
