The only reason they are struggling to develop cheaper ways to produce electricity is to serve the growing human population and its growing economy. But the Earth is a biosphere that is slowly shrinking, so there is no limitless future of growing investments forever. Quite the opposite. Unless we humans can agree to safely recycle 100% of all our human-generated waste products and peacefully reduce our human population with family planning education, the accumulating masses of garbage, sludge, chemical waste, smoke and fumes will generate ecocide and extinction of all life on Earth.
