    Default home heat pumps

I'm new to the forum and in fact pretty new to the whole green movement.

I'm looking at buying a home and many of these homes are older and operate on either baseboard or forced air for the main source of heating. Most of the place have either a wood stove insert or an open fire place as well. I'm trying to figure out what would be an energy efficent way to up grade said home. So basic my questions are...

I know the baseboard thing is pretty ancient but what about forced air? Is this a thing of the past as well?

I live in western washington and for the most part the temperature range is fairly mild as compared to the mid-west or alaska. If I were to buy a heat pump which one would be the best for my climate.

Finaly what type of insulation is the best.

Thanks for your help and if I'm in the wrong forum then sorry. if you can recomend a web page I would appreciate that as well.

thanks for your time and help
