Last April 1, 2010, the UK introduced the Feed-in Tariffs or FITs. It requires energy suppliers to make regular payments to households who generate their own electricity from renewable sources like solar panels or wind turbines.
This is a great way to encourage people to invest on renewable energy. While the investment may be costly at first, it should well be compensated in a few years or months.
