Vegetable or coconut oil is used as alternative fuel. Apparently it's been going on for quite some time already, but it's not that popular as many alternative fuel sources are, usually.
Aside from it being more environmentally friendly, what with it having significantly lesser emissions compared to traditional fuel, it is also cheaper especially if waste cooking oil (e.g. acquired from food establishments like fastfood chains that use hundreds of gallons of oil everyday) is used.
