    Default Simple Solar Panels?

    Hello! Does anyone have any info on this?...the other day i was searching through solar panels on amazon and found a company selling what they claim is a 120-volt AC panel. I don't know much about solar (obviously) but they say the panel can be plugged into a standard outside wall outlet because it has a UL compliant micro-inverter attached which shuts off in the event of a power failure as to not backfeed, is this true? Has anyone heard of the company (SpinRay Energy)? Their website is a little hard on the eyes but do you think it will work?

    You sound exactly like "Jake Forkelson" at TES. A Spinray salesman fishing for customers. Take a $410 panel ( Solar Panels from Wholesale Solar ) then add a sinewave inverter and some wiring, et al, and you have the $945 kit, plus add the $150 mounting kit that you can build yourself from around $50 in materials from your local hardware store. The panel is fixed mounted, and with a glass face, so will lose power rapidly as the sun angles away from the mounted position. It is only for grid tie or grid systems, and apparently works well. >>>>Steep price is a disadvantage.<<< >>The cheapest solar electric is still DIY independent systems.<<
    Here is a look at the Amazon.com deal;
    Amazon.com: SpinRay Energy 120-Volt PLUG & PLAY AC Solar Panel 240-Watts: Patio, Lawn & Garden
    Now it is $1024 SHIPPED WITH DECK RAIL MOUNTING KIT. Still, profiteering that is not commendable.

    That clickbank site is for building your own solar panels and wind generators cheaper than you can buy them, a DVD/book set. Definitely sounds good for DIYers, if they can get away without inspections or the inspector will OK them. It could be tough without a UL stamp on them.

    figuring $55 for mounting hardware/material---$ 390 shipped vs. the spinray top buck of shipped $1024. Add on a sinewave inverter and little battery with charge controller and you have more capability (day and night)for a lot less. An inverter that attaches to the panel and can be made to plug in is another $205, plus a plug or $685 total(with shipping for the bigger panel) with a little DIY work.http://www.amazon.com/ENPHASE-M190-7...=3ERX4GYBGSU93
    The point is that #1, it only works on south facing deck railings for a few hours a day unlike a real home solar electric system, and has a lot of profiteering markup that ruins it for being really green, to me. They would sell a lot more lowering the price to $800 shipped, and still give the the salesman a $100 profit. To me, that would be more in the spirit of being green.

    Wow Chooch, you really took offense lol! But seriously, they are two completely different panels you are correct, one is just a panel and the other has a 120-VOLT inverter and bracket, it's like comparing apples and oranges, or maybe apples and tastier apples

    Chooch, you could make your point without being a nasty jerk, couldn't you? Sure you could.
