Is the Canadian population growing? With a long-standing policy of encouraging immigration, it probably is, and that means a growing demand for electricity and the need for more oil, coal and natural gas to produce it, which means more pollution, not only from smoke, fumes and coal ash, but also from a growing mass of garbage, sludge and junk produced by that growing population, like everywhere else in the World. So, whatever green technology is installed, it won't be enough to keep up with the growing needs of the growing population.
But I do realize now that humanity is instinctively addicted to growth, so there is very little likelihood that Canada will try to peacefully reduce its population, because that would be bad for the conomy, and as everyone knows: "A growing economy is a healthy economy" even if its pollution kills the planet.
