Default Green Energy subsidies are a threat to the economy

NORTH BAY – The Auditor General reported that for every green job Ontario has created, another two to four jobs have been lost in other industries. Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says it’s time Ontario started paying attention to a growing global trend in green energy.

Green technology cannot and was never intended to serve a growing profit economy. Wind mills, solar panels and the other non-polluting sources of electrical power, if used everywhere, CAN save the Earth and the human race form ecocide and extinction. But maybe some men would rather die rich than live a normal life.

The subsidies are only an economic threat because the governments are hit and influenced by greedy profiteers in the solar and wind industry. Subsidizing solar at 80 cents per Kw/Hr is ridiculous when the panels cost $1.85/watt and produce for 25 years, at least 5 hours per day. At only 250 days of sun per year, that is 31,250 watt/hours of 31.25 Kwhs for around $2.00 installed without profiteering, or around 6.5 cents per Kwh. Someone is making a killing in profits, and probably sharing it under the table with corrupt government officials.
Yes, John, there are many who seem to want to get rich quick without caring even about their children's future biosphere.

    Val,
I didn't know about greedy profiteers in the solar and wind industries. Who are they? I'd like really to know.

Apparently, the power of money and economic growth is such an obsessive instinct that anyone who gets involved with it soon surrenders mentally without realizing what has happened to them. From my reading I became content with a working class life because my intellect is more important to me than money could ever be.

The article told of subsidies at 80 cents per Kwh. In shopping around for solar panels, inverters, charge controllers, wires, fuses, mounting hardware and batteries, when we built our house and were planning it, there was a 50% variability in prices for the same things including shipping/handling.
Just last month we bought two panels for $129.50 each, shipped. At wholesalesolar, the cheapest place we found before, they were $245 each shipped.
I remember when we did our original shopping around in planning the house, we ended up using six different suppliers (4 internet/mail order), to get the best deals. We bought ahead on sale for some, then stored them for a year.
We still get the profiteering spammers here trying to sell a $650 system for $975. To me it is acceptable to have a 10-20% profit, but more is unacceptable greed. Most, it seems, go with that philosophy of what-the-market-will-bear excessive profits. Part of it is too many salesmen trying to get a cut in the pie. Too many salesmen from overpopulation. Some is pure evil greed, in my opinion. Making a disc for a dollar and selling it for 50, because people are willing to pay that much. I think it is immoral. The same with companies that pollute and don't take into account the cost of that pollution cleanup or its long term effects. Others taking from the Earth to depletion and not counting that effect, or that it isn't all theirs to take.
For some, money is everything, while with others, we are content to have our needs met. Then there are so many whose needs are not even met, from a combination of the greed of others and their own ignorant over-reproduction to the point of poverty, and getting worse. Here in the US the gap between the rich and poor has grown, with many in the middle class going to the poor as there are more multi-millionaires. 1.8 million engineers in the US with .8 million working not as engineers, and the other million out of work (NumbersUSA). All the while the industry says it is short of engineers and to import more, which the government has been doing. What they want are engineers from overpopulated lands that the wages are low in. People willing to work for less at the expense of Americans. Greed. Overpopulation. Both tied in a Gordian knot.

So, the green energy industry operates the same as all the others, for as much profit as its CEOs can get, which means it becomes part of the growing economy serving the growing population, which, although it could mean some of the pollution is prevented at the source, the population would grow to 8,9,10,11,12 billion, which would mean not enough room for natural forests, which would mean not enough oxygen as the global ocean fills up with garbage, which defeats the whole purpose of the green energy movement in the first place. Why am I not surprised?
