I have been trying to go to http://www.thenvironmentsite.org/forums for several days and the page will not load error comes up. Does anyone else have a problem accessing
http://www.theenvironmentsite.org

Considering the complacently pro-business line they pushed, perhaps they folded because of a lack of viewers.
So, when you hit this link-
http://www.theenvironmentsite.org/
Do you get a trouble loading page message????? Anyone?????
What I got was an attempted invasion of my home page. In my opinion, "theenvironmentsite" is a poisonous link and I will avoid it.
I brought this laptop here to school to use on my lunch break. I TRIED TO GO TO THEENVIRONMENTSITE.ORG AND A BIG RED FLAG TROJAN HORSE came up!!! Before, all it said was there is a problem loading the page. Apparently, they have suffered an attack.
The InterNet has become a big disappointment to me as it becomes more automated and less personal. It makes me think there may be no way to control and reform the animal impulse to grow and devour that drives this or any economic system; and people are so easily misled by propaganda, like the Republicans trying to blame President Obama for rising gas prices. Obviously it's the growing human population, but nobody wants to think about that. They just want their desires satisfied because that's what they were surrounded with as children: short term desires, which feed the corporate system of "supply and demand". I see no way out of this biological trap as it inches toward ecocide and extinction; but I suppose my advanced age may sour my outlook to some extent. Perhaps the children will save life on Earth, somehow, hopefully.
The Environment Site is back up and without trojans or other infections. Apparently they were attacked severely and had to change their server several times. The new format allows only positive feedback scores and no more of the spiteful giving of red tags, even though there are many who deserve red tags for their anti-AGW or anti-environmental posts. It still has an anti-AGW denialist for mod on the climate change forum. Still arguing about something known as fact for 20 years, preventing any meaningful emissions reductions. It is funny and tragic how old dis-proven arguments against AGW keep coming back and needing to show that argument has been used before and debunked. Around and around they go, with nothing getting accomplished. There is even an occasional poster who believes that the world is not grossly overpopulated.
They did not fold, and this site is full of advertizing for so called green companies, mostly. Corporate social responsibility is a subject in both forums, and to me an oxymoron. Also the news section is overloaded with non-green news.
To me, advertisers are a source of mark-up to the price of products. Many of these products do not need salesmen or advertizing and their driving up of prices. With too many people in the world, more and more non-producers are trying for a piece of the smaller and smaller pie. The balance of society is sick with too many depending on too few. Meanwhile the effort to keep the growth only economy results in more depletion and pollution.
Val,
Did they get new management?
Yes, they got new management after you left. Still, with the climate change section with a denialist as mod, the argument that should have been over long ago keeps going around in circles. Few people post in the taboo population section. Other sections are still good, and a lot more than here. This site is mainly a pro-business advertizing site. Look at all the ads at the top of the page. Plus all the robo posts on news that is not environmental, and other robo post business sections that are only slightly green. So TES is better than here in many ways. Still, a lot of good environmentalists have been banned there while the denialists and advertisers have not been banned as they should be nearly as much. I have told the new management that the posts should reflect scientists in 97% pro AGW versus 3% denialists, but, like the old management they keep it more even. In the climate change section especially, you have to watch what you say or you get banned, while the denialists are allowed to rehash 6 year old arguments. You can only have an opinion in favor of AGW if you have supporting links, while the denialists can get away with just spouting garbage. So, to contradict them, you have to go back to the sources for debunking them from years ago, which is a big hassle. The people with a large amount of bad rep with red flags should be banned IMHO. Instead, the mod for climate change has a number of red tags showing most do not favor his posts. I even gave the site admin a neg rep for allowing it. I'm sure some of the red taggers would like to see me banned, and I have 8 green positive tags/flags. I would like to see you post there. I have put your eco-poems in some of my posts.
Val,
Your description of TES is actually worse than I remember it some years ago. I left because I was alone in trying to report the facts on global warming and potential ecocide and extinction, which TES ridicules. In my opinion, they are a trap to punish sincere environmentalists who dare to enter. If I went back, I would end up cursing them and getting banned. But the big joke, such as it is, will be on them when the biosphere's struggle to heal itself sweeps them away along with everyone else, which as we see, has already begun to happen.
Here is the latest from TES, and this post will probably be censored out by the denialist mod snowlover:
FABIAN ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
We have two denier loons who have only one agenda which is to destroy this forum and one of those loons you appointed as moderator.
It is quite clear there agenda is to do anything to stop proper discussion on AGW including wherever possible to create as much confusion and trouble as possible.
Even on WUWT that hold a standard that all discussions must be standard scientifically based it's that simple.

I have no problem discussing what science says about climate science but I draw the line at you being able to make up your own version of science. People coming here to learn and discuss AGW should not have to wade thru post after post that they are the dumber for having ever read.
Perhaps I should start posting that aliens are causing AGW as that apparently will be perfectly acceptable.
We have to have some norms some conventions that we adhere too every climate forum has too because the area seems to attract the loon factor. (from 5-19-12 post by uglybb)

YUP! They still have the denialist "snowlover" as a moderator(3 red flags or more), and erased the post above. Instead of being a beacon for driving necessary change, like all environmental sites should be, they are fast becoming a haven for global warming by humans denialism. People in favor of reduction of emissions, with green favorable reputation tags, have been banned, while others with red, bad, reputation flags are still there spouting lies and nonsense.
Luckily, they haven't put "imp" in charge of the population forum! (It used to be the "overpopulation forum" until they went too PC!)
TES is shutting down for good June 17, 2012. I have this site on my signature there, so some may come. It is too bad that from 2003 to 2012, with all the environmental input (then countered by denialists and anti-environmentalists), population went from 6.3 billion to 7.1 billion. Global warming got significantly worse with HGHGs increase. The road to ecocide unhindered. I wonder what good all the educational posts did. It seems not enough people learned. Nothing really got done.........too bad.
Our entire society is instinctively addicted to growth, especially corporate growth into every square inch of this biosphere, while searching the Cosmos for more life-supporting planets to conquer and devour. Thus, planet Earth is a cancer cell with only the choice of rendering ourselves benign to live in peace and balance for many thousands of years. But that would be too boring for big business adventurers who believe we need to be a "multi-planet species". There is a South African billionaire who is actively building his own space craft to search far out into Space looking for the next available planet to invade and expoit. It would be wonderful if an "Avatar" civilization was already there to stop him, but of course that's only a cute fantasy. But as far as I am aware of medical science, all cancer cells die with their host. I think a few big businessmen know this, but they don't care. They just want the adventure of being rich and powerful, the consequences be damned.
