It's not what you may think!

My kitchen has to be the coldest room in the house. The window is double glazed, but I don't think it is the best quality. We also have two small skylight domes that are made of a thick plastic material.

Do you have any ideas of how I can reduce the amount of cold coming in/heat getting out without having to replace the windows.

My grandmother used to "seal" her windows for winter, using a special kind of sticky tape and something for insulation that went into the cracks, under the tape. I don't know what the insulating material was, but it seemed to help. She'd them remove it all in spring.

If you feel a draft around the windows, pick up some 'great stuff'--foam insulating sealant and fill in any gaps between the window & the wall. Check out the company site GREAT STUFF .

Other than plastic, insulated blinds may help too.
