    Default Do any of you live in Tiny Houses?

    I am considering building a Tiny House but am not sure how practical that is.

    The smallest place I have ever lived was 740 Sq' but I heard a person recently created a home that was 90 Sq' and has next to no utilities. 90 Sq', that is what, the size of a King sized bed?

    I was thinking that maybe it would be feasible if things were hidden in the walls, like a murhy bed and recliner, hidden kitchen, etc. Maybe put the washer/dryer outside in a closet along with the shower & toilet with flooring of a dark color to act as a thermal mass.

    anyway..Anyone have any experiences they would like to share? Please do!

    We self built a 24 x 36 house with attached 14 x 25 garage. Chose to have one child only, so it is a 2 BR 1 3/4 bath. Super insulation cost a little more, but the lowering of propane costs compared to others has been significant. 850 sq. ft. has been big enough and about half the national average for new homes. The DIY solar power paid for itself by several years ago in all ways, and we were able to save enough to pay off the small mortgage last year!! Free at last!!!

    The biggest apartment I've lived in was about 500 square feet. I've found that as long as you're willing to sacrifice a kitchen/dining room table, you can have a very livable space for a single person.

    It also helps you save money because you're not likely to buy as much stuff - you won't have room for it.

    similar to this, there are round houses called yurts, that you could consider. I've lloked at a few sites about them, but I like this site best

    its got a lot of utilities, like you can fill out an order with everythign you would want with it, and see how much the home would cost, and everything seems well explained.
