Politics being the art of the possible, President Obama has a terrible dilemma. He can see that the majority that elected him absolutely wants a growing economy and growing prosperity onward into a glorious future of progress and fair play for everyone. But there is no way he can deliver that promise without maximum economic growth, which must include off shore drilling, nuclear power stations, and the entire complex of modern technology. The human instinct to grow is so adamant, most people cannot see beyond their desires for ever growing wealth and power. So, if the President wants to get re-elected he must "...get this economy back on track growing again." Whatever environmental realities he may be aware of, he is trapped by the momentum of human history.
But green people can go right on making little changes here and there and perhaps it will all accumulate to effect a general change while there is still time, hopefully.
