Default Cape Cod Waterways Face Pollution Crisis

ORLEANS, Mass. ó Rising nitrogen levels are suffocating the vegetation and marine life in saltwater ponds and estuaries on Cape Cod, creating an environmental and infrastructure problem that, if left unchecked, will threaten the shellfishing industry, the tourist economy and the beaches that lure so many summer visitors.

    Default Willful Myopia

In 1800s London it required several cholera epidemics before the city fathers would consent to install a city-wide sewer system, and then they merely pumped it out to sea. So, I suppose the money-addicted idiots of Cape Cod, among whom I lived for about 35 years, will wait until the last tourist has fled in horror before they're willing to pay for an efficient sewer recycling system, or will they convert it to sludge and pump it all out into Cape Cod Bay and the Atlantic Ocean?!

The basic problem on Cape Cod and around the World is too many people, but because the power of money dominates everything, only an ecocidal disaster can stop the overcrowding and pollution. I remember in the town where I lived, some supported a "building moratorium" but it was defeated by influential real estate developers who still believe "a growing economy is a healthy economy" forever in all circumstances, even now as 7 billion people and their growing economy pump millions of tons of pollution into the environment causing an overheated planet, climate change, raging wildfires and massive floods around the World. Because they are addicted to their own wealth and political influence, they refuse to see what is in front of their eyes.
