AP - BP PLC informed a federal judge Monday that the company is waiving a $75 million cap on its liability for certain economic damage claims spawned by the massive Gulf oil spill.

While I understand that some disturbances in our systems are crucial for resilience and integrity, the BP issue is one that requires accountability and responsibility for the disaster whether by intention or not. Pressure groups need to intensify to help speed up the cleaning process. This also enables other big players to take measures to insure for future social and ethical responsibilities. Nevertherless, political processes tends to accentuate conflict and sidetrack efforts to find overlapping consensus on matters that affect the environment.
