The hype is virtually inescapable. Nissan has already received more than 27,000 reservations around the world for the Leaf, its all-electric car, which is to start arriving in the United States and Japan in December and several European markets soon thereafter.

I am not sure what the hype is about. I currently drive a hybrid car and I think it is brilliant. My taxes are Low (UK) and I only need £15 pounds worth of fuel per month. I think we have to applaud our scientists and engineers for their breakthroughs to help with CO2 clean up or a least try to improve the waste produced by the automobile industry. Nissan is only going to add to competition on the market especially for Mazda and Toyota in advancing the most efficient car on the market and hopefully the speed will improve as well. Go electric cars!!
