I was up in Stratton, Maine this summer (pit stop while thru-hiking the A.T.). It was really exciting because every 5-10 minutes a different part of a turbine would go by being escorted by policemen etc.
We spoke with many locals who were all pretty supportive of it because of the job creation & the support of local businesses (including the Diner). We obviously didn't see it when it was all put together, but it was going to be visible from the Trail. There was about 50-50 consensus with the hikers around approving/disapproving of what the turbine was going to do to the 'new' view.
