Falmouth, Massachusetts (CNN) -- The Rev. William Eddy stands at the bow of his 53-foot sailboat nestled in the postcard setting of Cape Cod.

A lifelong resident of the Cape and islands, Eddy built his staysail schooner by hand, and on this day, he's using it as his pulpit. A perfect storm, he says, has been brewing over the past decade among residents driven to hysterics by the idea of building the nation's first offshore wind farm in the middle of Nantucket Sound.

It has been so many years since I lived on Cape Cod I'm sure many things have changed, including the population. So what is it now and how many wind farms will it take to replace the coal-fired power plant(s)? My guess is they will never be closed down because there will always be a growing number of too many people, until the impending eco-collapse finally arrives and the human population crashes, along with most of life on Earth, mostly because people are driven by their instinct to grow and grow and grow forever, on a shrinking planet.

So here come growing thousands of wind farms to serve growing billions of people. Hmmm. At what point will the wind cycles be disrupted by too much of another good thing turned bad?
