The Daily Beast - Strong aftershocks continue to rattle Japan after the largest quake and tsunami in its recorded history. The death toll, now likely to surpass 1,000, continues to climb. A high speed bullet train carrying hundreds and a cruise ship carrying 100 passengers are also reportedly missing. Meanwhile, hundreds of bodies have been found in Sendai city, near the quake’s epicenter, and there were reported deaths in other regions of the nation as well. In an effort to aid the search for missing friends and family, Google has launched a person-finder app, while the Red Cross has offered some other family-finding options. The U.S. has redeployed several ships to Japan in preparation for humanitarian relief efforts, and the U.S. Air Force has delivered coolant to a nuclear power plant whose cooling system failed during the quake.
