This is where I would like to see the whole world come in and sign a petition, not when there is a natural disaster and they pay lots money to clean up the mess. Why not fight it right now and find a better solution for everyone. We should not allow the so called rich countries to dictate what should happen to our lives now or in the future... Go India and Manmohan Singh. However, economic development in India should be based on the cleaner technologies based on available information so that it does not add to the detriment of the global warming. The advantage is that India and other developing worlds can to better that other developed countries by using sustainability initiatives.
Premier Singh wants to lift the poor of India out of poverty by growing the economy to feed the growing population, but that is the problem. Human populations keep growing ahead of the supply which is trapped in the business cycle of supply, demand and profit. So, whatever is left of the natural wilderness is sacrificed for business as usual. But the Earth is not growing to accomodate a relentlessly growing population and it's relentlessly expanding economy. Instead, it is shrinking with each volcano, earthquake and ton of oil and minerals extracted to supply that ever-growing population; and that is a collision course, especially as the biosphere is poisoned by growing tons of garbage dumped in mountainous landfills and in the ocean. The solution is 100% recycling of all waste and garbage and peaceful family planning to reduce the human population, before it's too late.
