The U.N. panel is tragically mistaken. While green technology is very slowly replacing oil and coal based electricity, the growing mass of pollution is poisoning the planetary biosphere and it is reacting with ever more violent tornados, rainstorms and floods, droughts and wildfires, while disease is spreading among the overcrowded masses of human beings who must inhale and ingest the polluted environment. This is happening because the World is dominated by multi-national super corporations that obsessively grow their economic empires regardless of consequences.
If wind and solar energy can represent up to 80%, it is sure solve the energy crisis that we are facing now. But 2050 is too far. If efforts are made, the process can be accelerated. The use of solar panels has to be increased- may be the governments can give incentives so that people think of utilizing solar energy to a considerable extent.
