The source of the floating debris washing up on beaches is the people themselves as their population grows around the World. The obvious solution is 100% safe recycling of all human produced trash and waste products, and family planning education to reduce the population. But that conflicts with the instinctive desire to grow the economy to become rich and powerful, which is poisoning the Earth and leading everyone to ecocide and extinction. I estimate this dilemma will naturally resolve itself sometime before the end of this decade.
