No doubt the power of the Catholic church had a lot to do with the conviction; and I am pleasantly surprised that Braziian women have been practicing gentle family planning to such an extent the population has actually stopped growing. If true, then there might actually be hope for the survival of life on Earth after all. Women everywhere deserve the right to freely decide if and when to conceive and birth their children. When they are legally guaranteed that right the vast majority choose to birth no more than 1, 2 or 3, which brings the human population into balance with this living biosphere we call planet Earth.
Meanwhile, the rich land owners plot to steal more land to clear-cut for cattle farming. But if the human population wisely reduces its numbers, the market for cattle would also decrease, until the rain forest is safe to process our carbon dioxide into oxygen, and help balance the Earth's weather systems.
