I was going over some news and came upon this article about oil rigs being put up in the Gulf of Mexico. Recent discoveries of vast oil deposits under thousands of feet of sea and miles of rock in that area have led to oil companies going further beyond the shore to look for new sources. We all know that inland oil reserves are drying up so they're turning to other spots beyond the shores.
So how does this impact the push for green and renewable energy as well as the greenhouse effect to the atmosphere due to carbon gas emissions mainly brought about by petroleum-based fuel?
It seems these big companies are getting bolder. Where before technology and costs was the only thing keeping them from getting oil buried under sea and rock. Would have been better if they channeled those resources into green energy research and projects.
