To live to old age people naturally learn to conserve their body's energy, so the idea is familiar to them and that makes it possible to conserve other forms of energy like electricity and to advise others to do the same. The problem is young macho men who imagine 10 children will earn a lot of money and make the family rich, but thousands of other men think the same thing, so the labor market is flooded with more wokers than there are jobs so the bosses hire only those who agree to low wages. The smart thing would be to have only 1 or 2 children to make their labor scarce and thus give them the power to demand higher wages.
