    Default Save The Rainforest's

Often described as the Earth’s lungs, only in reverse, the tropical rainforests, take in vast quantities of carbon dioxide (a poisonous gas which mammals exhale) and through the process of photosynthesis, converts it into clean, breathable air. In fact, the tropical rainforests are the single greatest terrestrial source of air that we breathe.

What’s truly amazing, however, is that while the tropical rainforests cover just 2% of the Earth's land surface, they are home to two-thirds of all the living species on the planet. Additionally, "nearly half the medicinal compounds we use every day come from plants endemic to the tropical rainforest." If a cure for cancer or AIDS is to be found, it’ll almost certainly come from the tropical rainforests.

I see you have put up at least three identical posts. Sure, saving the rain forests is crucial, but the amount of CO2 humans put out per year would require the planting of 70 million trees per year, in addition to no more cutting of the live trees. The root cause is human overpopulation and fossil fuel burning. Fossil fuel burning must be reduced to less than a tenth of what it is, and be done within less than a decade. The human population must decrease to half of what it is through a moratorium on births for 20 years combined with increased death penalties for criminals. Followed by only the select few having children until the population stabilizes at sustainable for above a poor standard of living. Otherwise nature will kill off 90 to 99% of humans, and the climate will change to Eocene Max conditions, or thermageddon, by 2500, with an 87% extinction rate.
Choosing extinction is illogical, so, instead, we must become very tough, and very green.
