Everybody's got green on the brain these days, and not just because it's Earth Day on Wednesday.
The travel industry has been on board the eco-bandwagon in a big way lately, with hotels and resorts practicing sustainability, promoting carbon neutrality and investing in community givebacks in consumer-friendly ways that translate into savings for everyone, Mother Earth included.
In celebration of Earth Day, here's a guide to getaways near and far that are not only making the planet green, they can save you some green.

Hybrid drivers not only reduce their carbon footprint, they get free lodging in Ithaca, N.Y. Ranging from a garden yurt (a dome-shaped building) to a repurposed 1850s barn, four eco-friendly B&Bs are rewarding alternative autos with a free night on stays of two nights or longer through May 10.
