I recently received a Zero Motorcycles DS model. It is 100% battery operated and you can commute a reasonable distance on it. I ride about 18 miles each way on my commute at about 60mph average. Top speed on the bike is 65mph and the range at those speeds is around 20-25 miles. When I get to work, I plug it in and 4 hours or less later, it's fully charged and ready for a couple of lunch time run around chores. Plug it back in, top it off, and head home at the end of the day.
It's awesome. Less than a penny per mile. Can't beat it. Look for Zero Motorcycles and a company called Just Zeros is selling parts and accessories.

Ok that’s a good way of transportation.
Far better as a car.
A car weight one ton.
A driver in a car it’s a car engine that moves a one ton vehicle,
One ton equipment, just for moving an 75 kilos man.
Then the e bike is so ecofriendly.
That’s a super solution.

First i want to say that in Asia in China a very good ebike cost 280 dollars.
In Europe ebike are too expensive.

The e bike works 30 miles. After the battery is empty.
And need 8 hours for loading the batteries again.

The electricity for loading the ebike comes from an electricity plant.
Needs oil or nuclear for running this electricity plant anyway.

Then it’s totally ecofriendly compare to a car. It’s a dream.

But compare to motor bike or a gas scooter, which one is the most ecofriendly?.
It’s hard to tell.
A normal gas scooter can work 1000 kilometers.
One second at the gas station, and the tank is filled. No need to wait 8 hours like an ebike.
A normal scoter, you can drive it faster.
A normal scooter use few oil. 2 liters for one hundred kilometer.
And something very important, it’s more safe.
Because a gas scooter makes noise. You can hear it. The people walking hear it coming.
An ebike is quite dangerous sometimes. The Children don’t watch carefully and cross the street
suddenly.
An ebike coming without making noise.
A children would hear a noisy gas scooter coming.

But it’s only a little problem. An ebike it’s far better as a car, sure. 10 times far better as a car.
That’s a very good solution.
But i still prefer my 125 cc, or my gas scooter.
However if everybody could use an ebike instead of a one ton car for commute. The Planet
,the forest, oil fields, will feel far better

And something else.
This ebikes, cars, scooter are very good equipment.
Need thousands of human work hours for building one.
Thousands of beautiful engineering parts. Hundreds of row materials.
That was difficult to extract this row materrial.
That was a hard work for creating and assembling this modern ebike or scooter or car.
Then we must take care of them. We must be respectful of this equipment.
It must not sleep under the rain at night any more.
We must cover them with a plastic cover. A nice plastic cover, that we buy in a bike shop.
With a plastic cover, the ebike, or the scooter or the car will last years. It will look shinning
during years. It will never get rust.
People that abandon their ebike or scooter or car without rain protection at night, will be
punished. They waste the hard human work.
Because this beautiful equipment will get rust after one year or two.
It will get rust very quickly.
without rain protection at night, it will last 3 years instead of 20.
We must take care of our equipment. We must make them last longer.

Electric Motorcycles will be the transport of the future, unfortunately the batter technology has not caught up with the green movement. Have you heard of Brammo, Inc. before? They are a direct competitor to Zero and MotoCzysz.

everybody say that, and it's wrong.
Today, now, we don't care what scientsts will discover 25 years from now.
ebikes sucks. work only 40 kilometers. need to wait 5 hours to reload a battery. It's dangerous. If you live in the country side, you drive an ebike, and you are stopped, no betteries, in the middle of nowhere.

Gas scooter is our green transportation today. 100 kilometers. need 1 minute to reload it.
use 2 liters gas for 100 kilometers. 5 times less as a car.

We must fight for the oil made out of crops.
And people don't go to work with cars, but with gas scooter. No need of a one tone car that move a little 70 kilos humain. A gas scooter is largely enough

E-bikes are cheap to run than a car.And the main thing is unlike electric mopeds or scooters, they are not subject to special laws or taxes as they are classed as bicycles.I feel maximum people should turn to E-bikes if they really care about environment and fuel prices..

Yes i agree with you leopard777..that E bikes can't completely replace cars..But atleast they can can be a good option to cars for small distance.. E-bikes can be good for city ride..
